Way back in 1979, a journalist named Murray Norris, strongly encouraged me to write down the things on my heart about the changes in my country, the USA.  A plain clothes nun named Kathleen was my secretary. This was before computers. I typed on a typewriter and when we wanted to change things around we cut the papers and taped them to different paragraphs. That was the original “Cut and Paste” routine. I have one copy of that 39-page booklet.

In 2004,  Tsaba House’s owner Pam Schwagerl,  became interested in my expanded and revised edition. It was published in 2006.

Years passed. Not much action. Discouraging frankly. It is still on Amazon.com

On a whim, I put the idea of this book for any voice actor who might be interested and I forgot about it in early 2013.

Months went by and then I received an email from someone who had auditioned for the part. He had a marvelous, rich voice and so professional. I searched his credentials online and discovered he had not only done acting but completed numerous voice actor projects and books, which discouraged me because I assumed it might be a misunderstanding.

I emailed Charles Kahlenberg, explaining I assumed he was always looking for voice work and must have overlooked that I could only offer half the royalty and pay nothing up front. I congratulated him on his fine work, thanked him and mentioned if he had some other reason for the audition to let me know then thanked and complemented his work again.

To my shock and delight this was his response the next day: “You plant. I’ll water. Let God cause the growth. Send the manuscript.”

As I listened to his voice inflections, strategic pauses, drama at the right places, I have realized like never before how incredibly important this book was and is today. His voice has completely resurrected my own perception of value here.

Murray Norris died years before the 2005 expanded publication.

I dedicated the book to my dad who died July 2012 only a few months before he could hear one illustrious word of Charles Kahlenberg orating Christians in the Arena: Stepping into the Arenas of Leadership, Influence and Political Controversy.
